Maximizing Survival During an Active Shooter Incident
Employers & schools find it difficult to train their personnel to be able to safely react in the event of an active shooter incident. Traditional approaches tend to have various flaws that may not ensure a successful outcome and can actually do more harm than good. Join us as Zachary Pugh, a police officer & the Owner/Chief Instructor of Pugh Self-Protection & Combatives, shares an alternative approach to traditional training that helps better maximize an one’s chances of survival. The presentation will be interactive with role players safely interacting with audience members. This program has also been approved in January of 2023 by GST BOCES for any NYS public school to receive state-aid to train their staff & students. To date, Pugh Self-Protection & Combatives has trained 15 NYS schools districts using this state-aid.

The program is an initiative of the Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce with key support from regional businesses and area schools. Induction into the Youth Hall of Fame is an annual award that honors outstanding 11th and 12th grade students. This program provides an opportunity to recognize young people who have demonstrated exceptional personal growth and development through their outstanding achievements and contributions to the community. The Youth Hall of Fame is a program of the Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the area business community and schools, and supported in part by New York State through the Office of New York State Senator Jeremy Cooney.
What are the criteria?
To be eligible, candidates should be in 11th or 12th grade and can attend any area public, private, parochial or charter school.
One or more of the following qualities are desirable in Hall of Fame candidates:
-an exceptional volunteer -or-
-an outstanding employee -or-
-one who has given service to the community or other peers -or-
-one who has coped with a life challenge - physical, social, or mental (Parental/Guardian permission required) -or-
-one who has overcome a personal tragedy (parental/guardian permission required)
How are they selected?
A committee comprised of representatives from the Greece Regional Chamber of Commerce, including regional businesses and area school representatives, will review nominations and make selections based on the award criteria. The 2024 inductees will be announced late spring.
Who may nominate candidates?
We depend almost entirely on nominations from high school teachers, counselors and administrators, area businesses and residents, community youth agencies, and service organizations. It is your observation and initiative that result in individual induction into the Hall of Fame. Being nominated to receive this award carries great meaning to the nominees and their families.

The Greece Chamber Charitable Foundation was established in 2002 to support programs that prepare young people for success in education and business. The Foundation is a charitable nonprofit organization led by a board of directors comprised of community volunteers.
Over the last 20 years, the Greece Chamber Charitable Foundation has funded a variety of organizations, community projects, and initiatives.
The Foundation's current initiative is to support nursing education through scholarship grants to local nursing students.
